It's a sunny day for Fox and Wild Boar. But it's also Mayfly Hatching Day. Wild Boar doesn't really want to interact with Mayfly, because if she dies at the end of the day, he'll be sad. But it happens as it must: Fox, Wild Boar, and Mayfly get to know each other. The mayfly correctly suspects that the wild boar is sad. But the wild boar quickly invents a white lie that the fox only has this one day. And so the mayfly, who thinks she is a Mayfly, tries to give the fox the best day of his life, and the trio sets off on a journey through the forest and into the day.

As Freddy wakes up this morning, the day does not seem to go his way. His girlfriend cheats on him, his car breaks down and his boss threatens to fire him. In order to save his job, he embarks on a wild tour through the city with the slightly wacky and unpredictable Charlie.

Young Uli Merkel is an engineer and inventor. He has a wife and child and is primarily interested in his career. One day, he receives a strange assignment from general manager Zeim. He is to track down the former chief designer Heiner Rudolf in order to take his inventions out of his pocket. Rudolf, ridiculed at the time for his forward-looking work, had taken all his documents with him when he left. Now they are needed to fulfill an important export order. In his search for Rudolf, Uli begins to realize that he, the boy, is being used. He finally finds Rudolf as a gravedigger on the island of Rügen. The encounter reinforces Uli's doubts about the moral integrity of his mission. He gets out and stays there, while Rudolf accepts an offer from the general manager.

After the sudden accidental death of her husband, Ursula blossoms, takes over the business of the deceased and goes out again.
